There is a saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Electing Kasim Reed to four more years as Mayor of Atlanta would be insane. There is another saying that says that the best predictor of future performance is past performance.

This website takes a detailed and fact-based look at Kasim Reed’s past performance as Mayor of Atlanta. Through hyperlinked news reports, primary source documents, on camera interviews and accounts of interviews with Reed administration and City employees and elected officials, including former Mayor Reed, this website is a lament on the Reed administration from 2010 - 2017. The voters in this year’s November 2, 2021 mayoral election deserve no less than an in-depth look at what Kasim Reed hath wrought when trusted with the mayorship of the City of Atlanta during his initial eight years in office. Let’s look at some of the highlights (or probably more appropriately the lowlights) of his past performance.

His administration paying out over ten million dollars in legal fees to law firms defending Reed’s administration in an ongoing federal corruption probe.

Reed showering more than $500,000 in illegal bonuses on city cabinet heads and top staffers and handing out tax funded cash prizes for an ugly sweater contest.

His deputy chief of staff pleading guilty to accepting bribes from city vendors.

His chief procurement officer pleading guilty to accepting bribes from airport vendors.

Forcing the resignation of Atlanta’s much acclaimed housing authority president, Renee Glover, over nothing more than petty jealousy that she was much acclaimed, and replacing her with incompetent and ineffective successors who have been unable to deliver on the mission of the agency.

Reed unlawfully charging roughly $150,000 on his city credit card for airfare, hotels and chauffeured car services.

The unprecedented finding by a jury that his official spokesperson criminally violated Georgia’s Open Records Act.

Paying for his mistress’ legal bills, who he appointed as a municipal court judge, with taxpayer money.

Firing the highly respected former airport general manager who accused him of interfering in the award of vendor contracts in an effort to steer the award to companies other than the highest ranked bidder.

Reed is now on a campaign apology tour claiming that he is a changed man, that he had a blind spot, that he needs to work on his personality issues, etc., but the truth is that he can no more change is personality than a tiger can change its stripes, or a leopard can change its spots. Reed is who he is and his past performance in office has shown us who he is. His lack of moral clarity, his abusive, arrogant, belligerent and vindictive leadership style has been on display for all to see for eight long tortious years that has left the Bottoms administration to pick up the pieces of a city beleaguered by an ongoing and everlasting federal corruption investigation.

There is another saying that a fish rots from the head first. Atlanta has endured and survived enough rotten fish during the previous eight years of Mayor Reed. It is time for a new leader and a new style of leadership in Atlanta
